  2. 2
    Click to reveal

Left-click any cell to reveal it. Your first click is always safe — mines are placed around it.

  3. 3
    Flag suspected mines

Right-click a hidden cell (or long-press on mobile) to place a flag. The flag counter shows remaining unflagged mines.

  4. 4

Frequently asked

How do I play Minesweeper?

Left-click (or tap) a cell to reveal it. Numbers show how many mines touch that cell. Right-click (or long-press on mobile) to place a flag on a cell you think hides a mine. Reveal every safe cell to win.

Is the first click always safe?

Yes. Mines are placed after your first click, guaranteeing the clicked cell and all eight of its neighbors are mine-free. You will never lose on the first move.

Are best times saved?

Yes. Your fastest completion time for each difficulty is stored in your browser's localStorage and persists across sessions on the same device.

What do the numbers mean?

A revealed number shows exactly how many of the eight surrounding cells contain mines. Use these numbers to deduce which hidden cells are safe and which are mines.
