Does my image get uploaded?

No. The image is loaded into a hidden Canvas in your browser and re-encoded there. Your file never leaves your device — you could disconnect the internet after loading this page and it would still work.

When should I use WebP over JPEG?

WebP typically produces 25–35% smaller files than JPEG at the same quality. Every modern browser supports it. Only avoid it if you're targeting very old software that predates 2020.

Does the quality slider affect PNG?

No — PNG is lossless. The slider only affects JPEG and WebP. If you need smaller PNGs, run the output through a PNG optimizer or switch to WebP.
