Is my text sent to any server?

No. Text-to-speech uses the browser's built-in Web Speech API, which hands your text directly to the operating system's speech engine. Nothing is uploaded.

Why do the voices look different on different devices?

The available voices come from your operating system — macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, and Chrome OS each ship their own set. This is why the list looks different on your laptop vs your phone.

Can I download the audio?

Not yet — the browser Web Speech API streams to your speakers directly rather than exposing a downloadable audio file. If you need a downloadable MP3, use a screen-recording tool or a paid TTS service.

Are all languages supported?

Support depends on your OS. Most systems ship English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese by default. Additional language packs can be installed via your OS settings.

Does it work offline?

On most systems yes — the speech engine is local. On Chrome OS and some Android versions, higher-quality voices may require an internet connection to Google's servers.
